Pain transformed, not transmitted

"Resurrection is not woundedness denied, forgotten, or even totally healed. It is always woundedness transformed.  You still carry your scars forever, as both message and trophy.  They still 'hurt' in a way, which keeps you mindful and humble, but they no longer allow you to hurt other people.  Pain transformed is no longer pain transmitted."

What is this photo of? Look at all those little drips! Fascinating.

I have learned a lot from Richard Rohr.

Hi, Judy -- it's the branch of a madrona tree, photographed in the rain. They shed their skins (that's the red bits hanging off on the bottom) and the revealed part underneath stays bright green for a while after the shedding...

I have never heard of such a tree, I live in upstate NY. Will have to look it up! Thank you.
